
Glass Mountain Restoration Project
The goal of this project is to restore hydrologic function to two meadows in the northern Glass Mountain area south of Mono Lake. The project lead is CalTrout, who is working with Inyo National Forest, Balance Hydrologics, Merrill Ecological, and Vollmar Natural Lands Consulting to complete restoration planning and permitting for the two meadows: Crooked Meadow (photograph) and Wild Horse Meadow.
Glass Mountain Hydrologic Recovery Project
The Glass Mountain Hydrologic Recovery Project (GMHR) expands upon the existing Glass Mountain Restoration Project (GMP) by adding restoration planning for five meadows to the two meadows included in the GMP, Crooked Meadow and Wild Horse Meadow. Merrill Ecological is working with CalTrout and other team members to provide foundational biological surveys and reporting in order to support development of restoration plans and regulatory compliance. Southern Cascades Ecoregion Sampling Project
This project was part of a state-wide effort by the Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to complete fine-scale mapping of vegetation within a ~4-million acre area in the Southern Cascades Ecoregion. Merrill Ecological was hired by Vollmar Natural Lands Consulting, the lead contractor with CDFW, to survey areas in this region using the the CDFW-CNPS Protocol for the Combined Rapid Assessment and the Releve Field Protocol.
